April Pride was born in Newport News, Virginia and attended the Architecture School at the University of Virginia, earning a B.A. in Architectural History. Upon graduation, she moved to San Francisco and pursued a career in design, working as a project coordinator at an exclusive, residential interior design firm. In 2002, she was accepted into the Master of Arts in the History of Decorative Arts and Design offered by Parsons School of Design. The courses required during her studies included intensive analysis of designers and design movements, construction, manufacturing and marketing. Upon earning her M.A. in 2004, April moved to Seattle and established her interior design firm and launched kaarskoker, her first product, in September 2008. April loves chips & salsa, coffee and her family- sometimes in that order.
