WELCOME kkCANDLESTICK

Friday, June 19th, 2009

The last few weeks have been spotty at best in terms of my twitter posts, blog posts, and, quite frankly, sleep.  This is all for VERY good reason- THE CANDLESTICK IS BACK.  kkCANDLESTICK is a kaarskoker-specific candlestick that works exclusively with the 80+ sleeves you have grown to love. For those of you without light fixtures you can now use kaarskoker candle sleeves to easily and inexpensively decorate your tables and mantles.

Decorating for holidays is brilliant.  You can use the same kkCANDLESTICK and alternate the sleeves between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The only holiday decorations to pack away are the kaarskoker sleeves because the candlesticks can be dressed for everyday decor the rest of the year.  Perfect for decorating on a budget and urban dwellers with little-to-no storage.

These are custom candlesticks that also make incredible gifts.  I have numerous friends who have purchased a pair as weddings gifts.  At $24 each (plus the cost of sleeves), beautifully packaged and completely personalized with a kaarskoker sleeve, you can finally gift for less than $50, less than $100 for a pair.  Uniquely contemporary, tradition redefined.

I am freaking out about this product. Yes, I did design it and I did so for us. Us being the design-centric masses who want (read, NEED) creative control but need to be met half-way.  Sorry, Martha.

Beyond customizing the candlestick with any of the sleeves, kkCANDLESTICK is adjustable and works with either a kaarskoker 4″ or 6″ sleeve.  That’s right: 1 stick = 2 sizes.  There is a 2″ extender that is easily removed to make this posssible.  Tier the candlesticks, group them in a set of 3.  Take a look at the images and remember the possibilities are endless.  kkCANDLESTICK comes in brass of silver finish and works with all kaarskoker patterns and sizes.  Happy decorating!

HOME SWEET HOME

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I have been MIA from posting on this blog for a good 6 weeks.  My excuse this week is a trip back to Virginia to visit my family.  In Richmond, my dear high school friend Tracy Sears who is a reporter of CBS 6 WTVR and got me the Good Morning Virginia gig hosted a small party to introduce kaarskoker.  I also visited with Mrs. Amanda Wainscott, the buyer for Shades of Light, to get a behind the scenes tour of the corporate office and showroom and meet the wonderful staff.  Amanda was a wealth of resources as I look to expand the kaarskoker line and offer exclusive products to my retailers (kkSHADES for Shades!).  We also discovered while I was visiting that the April’s Blue kkSOLID I sent to Country Living for the September issue is going to be on a Martha Stewart chandelier that Shades of Light is providing!  Is it this one below?

My final stop for the trip, which seems to have become just as much work as play, was Dolce Designs.  This is home decor store that offers full-service interior design.  Good news Richmond: kaarskoker candle sleeves are now available in your ‘hood.  Carol and Karen totally loved the sleeves and had visions of them on the light fixtures of thier clients and in thier own homes.  Home is definitely sweet.

SAN FRANCISCO kkCANDLESTICK PARTY

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

By now those of you following kaarskoker on Twitter and Facebook know there is something cookin’ here in Seattle.  Recently, a small group of us gathered in San Francisco to celebrate a new product from kaarskoker.  The official launch is not until July 1 so I will keep the details general and share these pictures of the party.
